SEU Alum Drops Catchy Pop Single Recorded at Local Studio

On July 1, up-and-coming Central Florida pop artist Jessica Jarvis dropped a new single produced by Grammy award-winning producer Jonathan Gautier at Lakeland-based Sound House Studios.

The Southeastern University alum’s second single, “Chance,” comes on the heels of last year’s debut single “Shakespeare Street.” It can be streamed nearly anywhere music is available online, including Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube Music.

In bright chords and dance-inducing rhythms, the single tells the classic tale of how two opposites attract. In the artist’s words, the narrative follows “an introverted girl, branching out into a world beyond herself, who finds herself falling for a charming, extroverted, golden retriever of a boy.”

The singer notes in a press release that the track calls back the simplicity and organic instrumentation of 2000s pop. A traditional four-piece band setup replaces synths and samples; notably, Jared Drake (tenor sax) and Nick Herbert (electric guitar) add their distinctive stylings.

No matter your preferred musical taste, “Chance” is likely to make you want to get up and dance or roll down your window when stuck at a traffic light on Florida Ave. After earning her bachelor’s degree in Music Business from SEU in 2022, Jarvis has been building a career as an audio visual technician and a self-employed marketing and communications specialist.

The new single represents a landmark moment for Jarvis, an artist who aims to curate an exciting and uplifting musical experience for listeners above all else.

“I think of the numerous times I spent blasting my favorite music in my room or the car, and I want nothing more than to instill the same joy in other people’s lives,” she says. “If my music plays over and over in someone’s head, I know I did something right!”

A music video for the single is set to release on August 1 via YouTube VEVO and iTunes Video.
