United We Succeed

Through specific, intentional efforts made by United Way of Central Florida and their partners, the narrative on poverty in Central Florida is being flipped.

The United Way of Central Florida has been improving and strengthening the lives of those in Central Florida for more than seventy-five years. Since 1944, UWCF has promoted and supported adults' and childrens' health, education, and financial stability in the Central Florida area. An impact that, all these years later, is tremendously felt.

The United Way served the Greater Lakeland area dating back to 1944. In 1980, United Way of Central Florida was formed after merging with United Ways of Greater Lakeland, Bartow, and Winter Haven. Highlands County was added to that group beginning in 1987, and today, UWCF covers the largest geographical area of any United Way in Florida with service to Polk, Hardee, and Highlands county.

UWCF aims to amplify its donors' dollars with local matches, to broker only the services that will produce the best return on investment, and in return, help the areas that are in most critical need. Five dollars a week can help fill a prescription for a homeless medical patient. Ten dollars provides a month of emergency housing for a family in need. Twenty dollars fund a literacy camp for preschoolers at high risk of falling behind.

If there's one thing UWCF wants to make abundantly clear, it's that no matter the amount of money you can contribute, your local community wins. With your support, the community in Central Florida is able to continue growing stronger with every passing day.
